Hello everyone!

Thank you all for your wonderful fics. I am the only failure of the bunch, which means it has been a very successful fest indeed. My fic should be posted soon (in case you were wondering). I'm feeling like April 6 is a bit soon for a deadline to end the remix madness (remember, anyone can remix anyone in the fest and/or anyone whose permission to remix they receive). Unless anyone objects, let's just give ourselves until May to play.

Traditionally, the remix title format is: Your Title (The Blah Blah Remix)

So for example, Aralias has written a fic called Millipede (The Bones of the Hand Remix)
When my fic goes up, it will either be called Gauda Prime and Prejudice and Vampires' (The 'Once More With Fangs' Remix) or Gauda Prime and Prejudice and Vampires (The 'Bad Things' Remix).

Regarding how to choose your subtitle, Aralias wrote (long ago) in in this post:

i think the main point of the subtitles is to immediately tell the reader that it's a remix. you look down a list of titles and it's immediately obvious which ones are remixes. neither the title, nor the subtitle have to be the original title, though some people do use the original title as their main title (thus the point of the funky remix subtitle is to distinguish the two).

i mainly choose my subtitles by picking out the main remix idea. like fairytale romance - 'the happy endings remix', which was my backwards merlin fic all about happy endings, or '500 bottles of beer - the really growing on me remix', was all about how eight realised that he liked the master after all. i like that because 500 bottles is sort of a silly title, but it does imply the waiting, and then the subtitle actually explains more about the fic. i think song titles are quite popular. i've certainly used... two. but people do do that. and one of my drabble remixes was just 'the shade's remix', which worked pretty well, because the doctor was semi-implied to be the shade in the original and now it was from his POV (so that's sort of 'what the remix is about'.

I have not quite heard from everyone, but it seems that a one week extension would be very welcome to some, but that others are eager to post. And a few of us are racing to finish and want the continued deadline pressure. So, in an attempt to please everyone, here's what we will do:

There will be THREE phases of Blakefest.

March 15 is the first phase. People can post on this day if they would like.
March 22 is the second phase. People who do not post on March 15 can post on this day.
March 22-April 6 is the third phase. This is the "madness" round. During this time, people can remix anyone participating in the challenge as well as any B7 writer who has given their permission to be remixed.

I hope this doesn't seem overly rigid to anyone! The reason I am going with official "posting days" is, frankly, that I like them. It's like a birthday or Christmas.

I will create an AO3 collection and a link posting post on March 14.

How is everyone doing with their remixes? It seems like some people, myself included, are working furiously to finish by Tuesday. Would a week extension be helpful, or would it kill the motivation?

Welcome to our third Blakefest!

For this fest, we're going to be trying something different: a remix challenge. If you sign up, I will assign you another B7 writer to remix. You can choose among their fics and remix one or more of them. Someone will also be assigned to remix one or more of your fics. If you don't want to participate formally but still want to play in some capacity, we will have a "remix madness" after the formal part of the challenge, in which you can remix someone's fic OR in which you can put your fic forward to be remixed by anyone who would care to.

The rules:
To participate in the formal challenge you must:
1) Have previously publicly posted (at the time of signup) at least 3 B7 fics of more than 1000 words.
2) Be willing both to remix and to be remixed.
3) Be willing to write a remix of a fic that does not necessarily ship the same pairing(s) you do. You may not change the pairing, although you may focus on elements of the story that do not involve the pairing.
4) Be able to post your remix by March 15

The deadline for signups will be Monday, January 25. Sign up by commenting on this post.

When you sign up, please tell me:
1) If there is any story you've written that you very much do NOT want remixed. I want this to be fun for you, so if there are any fics of yours that you would hate to have remixed, please feel free to tell me
2) If you do not like slash, you can tell me this and I will assign you a writer who has written at least two stories that do not contain slash. I will identify the stories in question for you
3) Which pairings you'd prefer to write. I will try to take this into account but can make no promises
4) If there's anything that would deeply disturb or upset you, and I will try to let the writer remixing you know this
5) A link to your fic (on Ao3, or elsewhere)

You'll find the sign-up form below. Submit your form, with the types of fic, art, podfic, vids, graphics or meta you want to create and receive, by Friday 22nd August. After that, all the forms will be shuffled and you'll receive at least three prompts for fic and possibly art, podfic, meta, graphics or vids from which to choose your project. Probably the next day.

How to sign up:

1: READ THE RULES. If you have any questions, the answer's probably in the rules. If it isn't, leave a comment.

2: FILL OUT THE FORM. There are separate forms for art and fic and podfic and vids and graphics and meta, all of which can be copypasted from the text box below. You have to request fic, but you can also request any combination of the other media. (N.B. You have to leave three prompts for any category you wish to play in).

You can sign up to produce fic, art, podfic, vids, graphics, meta or any of the above. Although you have to leave multiple prompts, you will only have to answer one (even if you agree to produce any of the genres). There are prompt guidelines in the rules.
