I thought there were going to be a lot more blakefest entries than there actually are! I would think your essay was splendid under any circumstances, but I deduce that I was either unmatchable or defaulted in so you had to step in, for which I am particularly grateful. Thank you!

you've deduced incorrectly actually! unsentimentalf did default, but she was always writing for me, and i for you. as i said, i was going to write you a how green thing, but then i didn't. i was also considering writing you a thing about blake's politics and then i was like 'i know NOTHING about them. why do you never tell em anything about your goals, blake?'

so yes- that's what happened. there were more blakefest entries last year because ithink we had maybe one more person and a few people wrote or did multiple things, and this year on la_aspiva did.

In the 50s, Robert L. Fish wrote a series of "Schlock Holmes" stories where Holmes' deductions were ALWAYS wrong, and I see I am following in his footsteps.

It's possible that Blake didn't think he could see past anything but a very elaborate Suicide by Cop, so he didn't need a political programme. Possibly he also thought that, like Giles in The Gift, whatever replaced the Federation would have to be better?
